Re-Release dieses bisher schwer erhältlichen Werkes, plus DVD mit einem Film von KÖNER !
“Expanded audio/visual reissue of this early Köner release, originally issued on CD in the Driftworks box (Big Cat) in 1997. Deluxe digipak packaging. The DVD features a new Köner film made in 2004. "Thomas Köner is one of todays most experienced electronic sound artists. Since more than a decade he works on the archivation, modulation and construction of sounds and pictures. One could even talk of an audio-visual archive of Thomas Köner, even though he is no longer acting as a classical artist-subject. Köner is chain-linking himself to events, may it be installations worldwide, like he did in the Louvre or Centre Pompidou at Paris. Köner is working with the movie/videoartists Jürgen Reble or Max Eastley and musicians like Asmus Tietchens and Andy Mellwirg/Porter Ricks. Köner's project Nuuk shows in 4 timepics, snippets/takes from landscapes and settlements of Greenland. Köner's interest in geological shifts does not want to make the space to a principle of music/picture but rather find open space, levels on which sound disperses as eventlike moments, soundshades getting composed beyond structures like melody or rhythm. One could even think of a likelihood or correspondence of sound and picture in Köner's audio-visual projects. The Soundscapes of Köner seem to relate to the effects of slowing down/absence of movement in his pictures illustrating them more or less like in ambient music. There is neither illustration of pictures through music or vice versa. Köners audio-visual archive is disjunctive : what you see relates not to what you hear, what you hear is hard to find in the pictures." All MPM DVD's will be 2 sided (PAL & NTSC, region 0) for world-wide use.” [press release]
