More Info

"Last spring, Mirko and Marcus both took a free-hand horseback riding lesson for beginners in the traditional stud of St. Gallen.
The two of them not exceptionally gifted in the profession and progression of taiming the stallion and classical dressage gave a free hilarious foretaste of the scene of destruction that was conjured up later as they tried to climb up the animals' backs in leatherette-boots. While Obst got tangled up in his horse's bridle and was dragged through the muddy ground for five minutes or so, Uhlig fell extremely unlucky headfirst in an enormous pile of horse-shit.
So humiliated by nature and the trimmers of nature both guys at long last did what they can do best: Letting others work for them while sitting in their stench and rexine and drink mocha coffee.
„Others“ in this case means the wind, electricity and the sounds of not challenged quadrupeds.
The artists clipped a high sensitive mic with the size of a fly-eye in the mane of Obst's horse („The Scheitel Organ“) and a more robust recording head in the nostrils of Uhlig's pony („The Nose Organ“). These two sources were combined later in the studio of our two cowboy-sissies: The abrading sound of a hardly audible wind streaming through animal hair on the one hand and the deep and earthy mumbling of nasal secretion on the other. Together it is great and incorruptible and time-critical and bluish art.
„The Vertical Horse Lesson“ can bee seen as a sequel to „Farewell Fields“ on the organizational level but with its cold and (at first contact) demure atmosphere it sounds like some antithesis to their open hearted and melancholical first collaboration. The amputated soldier starts to rot under the sheet of autumnal snow.
