More Info "FELICIA ATKINSON flüstert und singsangt, in Englisch und Französisch, La La La (KK018), wie um sich nicht allein zu fühlen. Jedenfalls erweckt sie den Eindruck von etwas Beiläufigem, aber auch Intimen, als ob sie ein Poesiealbum nur für sich bespielen würde mit Erinnerungen, Sehnsüchten, lyrischen Bildern. Sie musiziert dabei mit akustischer Gitarre, Klavier, Melodikagesumm und Glockenspiel, allerdings eingebettet in Software-Watte. 7 der 11 folktronischen Gedankenspiele der Pariser Künstlerin, die sich hier als Singer-Songwriterin präsentiert, hat ihr Freund Sylvain Chauveau (Le Livre Noir du Capitalisme, Un Autre Décembre) arrangiert. Ihre Vorlieben für Plath, Duras, Mallarme, Cummings, Godard, Antonioni und Hartley, für Feldman oder Low zeugen von einem sensiblen Wesen, das sich bei ‚Schnee part‘ sogar bemüht, ein Gedicht von Paul Celan (‚Unlesbarkeit dieser Welt‘ aus Schneepart) in Deutsch nachzusprechen. Neben der Gitarre, die in ‚Guitar means mountain‘ besungen wird, und einen großen Auftritt im Gastspiel von David Daniell bei ‚Lonesome as the sun‘ hat, ist Schnee ein poetisches Leitmotiv, das als ‚White‘ wiederkehrt und mit „It could be the snow, or rice, or anything“ bei ‚No wedding‘. Schnee als leeres Blatt, das sich immer wieder selbst auslöscht. Atkinson meditiert über dieses Verschwinden und nennt La La La nicht umsonst ein Memento Mori." [Bad Alchemy] " 'La La La' was recorded at home in Paris and Brussels. As a multimedia artist more than a full time musician, I decided to use rough materials of recording and mixing such as Garageband free software, in a democratic and playfull way, with the instruments that were at home, such as piano, acoustic guitar, glockenspiel and field recording from the room. The songs were done by improvisation, then edited with sometimes the help of Sylvain Chauveau, in the aim of keeping something very oral, inspired and spontaneous. Some pieces have been presented before as a sound installation in real space. I like when there are connections and echos of the same piece in different mediums such as installation, recordings, texts, sounds. The lyrics are in different languages in this idea of playing with the different levels of knowledges and images. One of the song, "Schnee Part", is the reading of a poem by Paul Celan, "Umlessbarkeit", in the "Schnee Part" antholgy. It is read in German as many time as i needed to understand it. The last song, "Lonesome as the Sun" is based on the guitar of David Daniell, a great guitarist from Chicago i met with Sylvain in New York City. Chanting and playing "La La La" was for me at the same level as drawing or writing: something to measure the present time and the perspective of the vanished, as a memento mori."
