"Da präsentieren uns die beiden diesmal also 10 Liebeslieder. Nun gut, lassen wir das einmal so stehen und konzentrieren uns auf das Musikalische. Was hat sich verändert seit der letzten 2xCD auf Kranky namens "The Dream House/ Dedications To Flea (2006)? Die Grundstruktur aus Drohnen und Ambiancen ist jedenfalls gleich geblieben, allerdings sind die Stücke wesentlich kürzer und der Gesang von Windy ist auf "Songs For The Broken Hearted" ein dominanter Bestandteil. Ihre Stimme klingt zwar einerseits sanft, aber andererseits ist sie stark, hallend. Sie wirkt nicht auffallend und "menschlich" vordergründig, sondern wie ein Teil der Gesamtkomposition, eine Ebene der vielen schimmernden Klangschichten. Überhaupt, das ganze Album wirkt wie ein fein gewobener Klangteppich aus Gitarren, Keyboard... warm und umhüllend kreisen die Drohnen dem Hörer um das Gemüt und wollen in diese verletzliche "Liebeswelt" entführen, um ihm sämtliche Stadien der Liebe vorzuleben, ihn daran teilhaben, und seine eigenen Erfahrungen mit einbringen zu lassen. Man ist im Gesamtergebnis hin- und her gerissen: Entweder im Hintergrund laufen lassen und sich weiter dem Tagesgeschäft widmen, oder bewusst innehalten und dieser Klangreise ruhig und konzentriert folgen. Windy & Carl wollen vermutlich Letzteres erreichen, vielleicht sogar "Songs For The Broken Hearted" den verletzten und gebrochenen Herzen unter uns als heilenden Balsam reichen..." "Most everyone has experienced love as well as heartbreak. The 10 songs that form the new Windy & Carl album are interpretations of those emotions that run the gamut from pain, anger and longing, to warmth, admiration and joy.
