CD-Version of the new album - emotional metal-rock on the threshold to the sublime-ethereal, about the best what the “rock”-area has to offer these days....

“Their newest release, Panopticon shows considerable growth, both in maturity and musicianship. Named after a prison that you can be watched at all times, this is definitely an album that will define them and give them a much larger listening group than the previous releases. Starting off with So Did We, the album follows along the familiar path that Isis is known for. Droning guitars, rumbling basslines and precise, restrained drumming. Each member is a master of their craft, creating atmospheric soundscapes that focus on making you feel confined and empty. Vocally, this is unlike any of the previous releases. There are a lot more change ups. The barking vocals are present, but also gruff melodic vocals are given more time. They're done very well and are welcomed to the fold. Moving further into the album, Isis show their mellow side even more than before. With no songs under the six minute mark, Isis has also shown that they can keep a listeners attention and not dull down the music for the sake of writing long songs. A rarity these days. In essence, this is one of the more challenging records of the year.”[from the press release]
