Es bildet das Herzstück in den drei Stücken, die Gobeil zwischen 1988 und 2002 komponierte. Elektroakustische Tapeeinspielungen werden mit den Klängen des Ondes Martenot zu einer komplexen und an Ereignissen reichhaltigen Arbeit verwebt. Die Musik entwickelt sich jeweils sehr langsam und stetig. Gobeil bevorzugt klar konturierte und kantige Formen. Dabei ist die Dynamik von Spannung und Entspannung prägend für seine Musik. Mit unerwarteten Brüche werden die akustischen Feintexturen plötzlich abgeschnitten, um dann aus der Stille heraus im brachialen Auftakt wieder fortzufahren. Wenn die Tapesequenzen verstummen, tauchen mit einmal die sphärischen und hohen Töne des Ondes Martenot besonders eindeutig zu Gehör. Als fragile Flatterwesen tragen sie dann bereifte Klangnachschriften des vergangenen Jahrhunderts in den digitalen Fluss steter Erneuerung. Sowohl dramatisch gewitternd als auch schleichend Subtilitäten befördernd, sind diese Kompositionen insgesamt von sehr souveränem Charakter. Zusätzlich gibt es das Ondes Martenot als Hauptdarsteller in einem kleinen Film zu bewundern. The Ondes Martenot is one of the earliest electronic instruments. It is the heart of three pieces Gobeil composed between 1988 and 2002. Together with electroacoustic tape sounds it is a rich and complex work where the musical gestures are developed on a long duration. Sudden breaks are stopping these acoustic textures into silent parts before going on with violent power. Gobeil prefers angular, clearly structured forms, relishes the dynamic force that derives from tension and release. when the ondes is standing out from the material on the tape, you hear the special sound of spherical high tones flying like little birds through the soundscape. It is a musical way of being, of breathing, a natural mark, a style, immediately identifiable and thus much more than a habit. The Trilogie d'Ondes is testimony to this approach, so deeply rooted in the composer's musical thought. The ondes Martenot's electronic timbre and acoustic resonance are perfectly suited to the musical fabric of the electroacoustic tape part, turning it into a rich and complex mixed work. In places the instrument melds almost perfectly with the tape, while in others the ondes stand out from the sonic material, due either to the expressive quality of some melodic interventions or the contrast between the ethereal quality of the timbre and the colorful complexity of the tape sounds. In this case, Gilles Gobeil has chosen to rely mostly on the musician's expressive accuracy in addition to virtuosity. Among the various contributions from the ondes, two themes stand out and underpin the entire structure: the 'wrench theme,' which is always tightly woven into the tape and manifests itself through a long rising glissando, and the 'cell theme' -- or 'soul theme' -- a cell consisting of four neighboring, distempered notes."
